Ondine She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. Getting on a plane Friday night and flying off for a thrilling week of Viable Paradise Writers Workshop. I am so fucking nervous and excited. I don't like leaving my family. I will miss my online and irl friends. I will miss Armen and the dojo. I don't know these people I am going to be spending a week with. This is a very big step for me, writing wise. It's daunting to think editors of TOR will be sitting across from me, telling me how to make my story publishable. At least I am going with the story that got me accepted. I know they liked it enough to give me a spot. I am not a good schmoozer. I tend to hang out in the kitchen at parties, begging the hostess or the maid to let me help cook or do the dishes. I just watched Angel at my Table, the biographical movie about Janet Frame, a New Zealand writer. At one point her therapist tells her that she doesn't have to mingle with people if she doesn't want to. And I was like "YES!" I love people, but I just don't like them around too much. Ugh...ok it's a week and it's my career. I can do this. |
