Ondine She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She's got everything she needs, She's an artist, she don't look back. She can take the dark out of the nighttime And paint the daytime black. --Bob Dylan 2005-11-01 9:21 AM Road Trip and more Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) |
Friday evening, Jenn, Chrissy, and I hit the road to San Francisco. We took 101 because the 5 bores me to death. Traffic was light, company fun, music sweet, and my car--my icelandic god--noble and true. I managed to find us a hotel that was about two points above camping, but it was still fun. Danielle, Michael, and Micah were already there. We woke early on Saturday and headed to Haight Street and my favorite hippy restaurant, All You Knead. Massive quantities of potatoes, eggs, crepes, blintzes, bagels, bacon, fresh squeezed oj, mild lox, sour cream, STRONG coffee, home made jam. I am drooling again. After stuffing ourselves, I took the kids shopping for halloween costumes. I wanted to be a ninja but could not find a costume so settled for a ghost thingie. Then, we went to the Yaoie Con and I got my introduction into the really silly world of gay anime. The pictures are pretty. :) I bought a lot of pressies (not telling, Angela) and got my photo taken with Danielle and two guys on a mattress!! Pictures are being developed, so will add site when I get them. We headed back to the hotel to rest up for a night on Castro Street. I watched a movie with Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon where Susan's ex husband whatisname becomes engaged to Julia Roberts and Susan obediently gets cancer and dies. FUCK YOU. I am rewriting it in my mind. Whatisname gets cancer and dies. Julia and Susan become best friends and raise the kids and both find incredibly hot men. Anyways, back to the holiday. My costume was really scary, except I looked like a little kid in it--wearing my running shoes probably didn't help. So much for sexy mysterious ninja babe! A few of the peeps on Castro mistook me for Micah's kid, because he's very tall and I am not very tall. Castro street was hilarious. The costumes out of this world. 6' tall men in dressed up as nurses with 8 inch platform shoes. Boy scouts. Bunnies. Aliens. 'Women' in large hats! I took a ton of piccies. We partied there until after midnight then headed back to the hotel. Sunday opened with one more monster feed at All you Knead and more shopping on Haight. I bought Joe a bunny smoking a cigarette. You can open the bunny up and see its skeleton. Very cool. We headed home a little after noon, I think, again on the 101. The day was glorious with blue skies all the way and no traffic. Bjork kept a steady pace at about 90 mph. We listened to Peter Rowan, Dar, Carpenters, Billy Joel, Patty Griffin, another female singer songwriter that Jenn had--can't remember her name, but she's very good--and some great 80s music care of Jenn. Poor Michael had to deal with all that estrogen :). Was a great adventure with such good friends. I love you all! P.S. Round trip gas cost=60 bucks! My car is a GOD!!! |
