2005-07-11 11:37 AM Work hot sick shop Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (2) Back to work today for the first time since my nice long holiday. Of course, there are vast amounts of work built up for me to do, but that's the fun of holidays. I also have to really get going on the enormous website project which is (hollow laugh) due for completion by September. Still, no big emergencies while I was gone. The world hasn't ended.
It is abominably hot today, and it's going to stay that way all week. England doesn't do very hot weather very often, but when it does, we're not well prepared. The buses still have the heating turned on from winter. Air conditioning is an alien concept. We bought a couple of fans yesterday, and that made sleeping bareable, but I have to get another one for Nika, because she is really suffering. I suppose I should point out that the temperature is only in the mid-eighties Fahrenheit, which won't be so hot for some of you, but it's humid, and British houses aren't built for this kind of weather. In good news, I'm pretty much over my illness, I think, for which I'm enormously grateful. Everyone around here seems to be getting the same virus, and it only knocked me out for less than a week, while most people are out for a week and a half/two. Last week I bravely accompanied Steph clothes shopping for several hours. Clothes shopping and me don't go together. I am male. I do not shop. Anyway, I managed to get a nice pair of cool summer trousers for work. Damned if I could find them this morning, though. Maybe the shopping was just a dream Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
