I made a pretty good dinner last night, if you don't mind me sayin'. Roasted Paprika-Garlic Chicken served over homemade corn cakes and risotto. Accompanied by a bottle of Wirra Wirra Church Block 1999.

HOT. REALLY HOT.

The Fiancee came home to a spic-n-span house with a clean dog and dinner in the oven and Scott Peterson on the tele, getting ready to die.

Strange that a state like Cali has the death penalty, don't you think? For a bunch of rabid liberals? Hmm. Think about that for a minute and get back to me. Oh, nevermind. Like Minny, Cali doesn't always make predictable decisions (see Ah-nold and "The Body")

Aside from being tortured by the "James Taylor Christmas," I had a great night. Dinner con vino followed by a movie on my estranged couch. (I really, really miss my couch. You never really fully appreciate something until it's gone, right?) We watched ELF. Funny, but not THAT funny like many of my friends implied. I don't recommend it unless you're 12-17, or one of the 7 out of 10.

One perfect thing about semi-interesting movies: If you've got a sleepy girlfriend/wife, just pop in a semi-interesting movie for about 30 minutes, wait for her to fall asleep, then go into covert op "Monday Night Football." Perrrrrrrr-fect. When you're satisfied, wake her up and tell her that you fell asleep too, and that you should watch the second half the next day. I love working the remote undercover.

This morning, I'm off to the suburbs to get the Finacee's car serviced. I love being her errand bitch. It's a balmy 8 degrees this morning. I can't wait to tackle this weather. I've been spoiled for the past three months, living in the surprisingly mild Chicago.

In ironic news, I'm meeting an old friend at a restaurant called "Old Chicago" tonight, to collect on an old bet and catch up with a cold one or two. I think I'll have a Grain Belt Premium. www.grainbelt.com. Check it out. Oh, and someone teach me how to do links. I'm worthless when it comes to web publishing.

I have to go. My battery's going to bust, and I've got to get out to Maplewood to the VOLVO mart.

Have a tree-mendous holiday. I hate the Pacific.
