This was the third year that Shawn and I went to Laughlin with my parents over Presidents' Weekend to celebrate Valentine's Day and his birthday (which was the 11th.) I basically ate, slept, snuggled with my honey, hung out with parents and did a little shopping. It was decadent.
We won't be staying at the Flamingo any more, though: since they were bought out (first by Park Place, then by Caesar's), customer service has tanked. If I'm a guest, I'd like to be welcomed, not tolerated. Baby's getting more active. One night (morning), Shawn came in really late. I had been sleeping, but the baby said, "Hey! Daddy's home!" and suddenly my internal organs were transformed into a hamster wheel. Oof. Ultrasound next week. If the little one cooperates, we may be able to find out gender so Mom can buy more yarn. WooHoo! The novel thing is still going on. I got the chance to talk with My Dad The Shrink about PTSD manifestations and how it pertains to one of my characters, which helped solidify some ideas I had. So far, I've got about a thousand words, which is a flashback on how two of the characters hook up. Just as a brief estimate, I've got what will probably end up at +/- 18k words outlined, which is about 2/3 of the story, so it may not be a full novel. I'm trying not to stress over it. One thing I've found is that I have different ways of writing. If I've got a pretty clear idea of what I'm trying to convey, I'm perfectly happy throwing in "good enough" words marked with a (WC?) for future revision, but if I'm actively creating, forming impressions and testing reactions, it takes me forever because, if the feel isn't just right, I can't flow the story itself.
