I saw this on a couple other blogs and thought it would be a fun one to post. I note that people were crediting Randomthoughts for it, and he/she indicated that it was taken from elsewhere.

Anyway, here goes:

One book that changed my life: I could be obvious and say THE BIBLE, which I'd say shaped my moral being since being a small child (though I'm not particularly religious today) or I could say something like ATLAS SHRUGGED which, even when I didn't agree with parts of it, made me think and helped me form my adult political outlook. Or I could say something like Asimov's FOUNDATION series, which shaped my reading habits and led me in the direction of my current loves.

One book I’ve read more than once: THE STAND by Stephen King. Also probably my favorite book.

One book I’d want on a desert island: THE STAND, unabridged. It's a great read and it's LOOOOONG.

One book that made me laugh: 12 SHARP by Janet Evanovich. Not too many books make me laugh out loud, but this one did at times, as did others in her series.

One book that made me cry: Hmm. I'm not real emotional while reading, unlike watching movies (I've been known to get "mushy" as my wife puts it while watching films). But I had a moment in this latest Repairman Jack book where I felt like crying a bit, so I'll say HARBINGERS by F. Paul Wilson. A very odd selection, considering how dark the book was otherwise.

One book I wish had been written: THE CUBS' WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM OF 2003

One book I wish had never been written: Maybe MEIN KAMPF, I'm not sure of how much this book influenced Hitler's rise to power, but if it did, then it's one I'd rather not have been written. If not that one, perhaps COMMUNIST MANIFESTO, by Karl Marx, because of the negative impact its philosophy ended up having on Russia specifically and the world in general.

One book I’m currently reading: Stephen White's KILL ME, a mystery featuring psychologist Alan Gregory, set in Boulder Colorado.

One book I’d like to write: I have a couple mysteries on the burner. A couple horror novels. A couple pseudo SF novels. Don't know if any of them will ever get finished. So I'll just say I'd be content with ANYTHING I could get written.

****

That was fun. Later
