When we went to pick him up, I got to meet the boy's parents. As some of you know, I'm a musician, mostly amateur, though I've been in working bands and gotten paid for playing bars and parties and weddings and such. So when I went into their house and saw guitars around, I had to ask of my son's friend's mother - "Is your husband a musician?" (Then I immediately wondered if she was the musician and I was making a dumb statement.) And she answered, "Yes, he is." He was out at the moment, but arrived home as we were talking about our boys, and as we chatted, I found out that he IS a professional musician and has 4 CD's (which he called "vanity" CD's). He gave me one to listen to. Which I did. At first I was thinking, "Great! Another musician to perhaps get together with to do a bit of jamming." But then I listened to the CD, and I realized that I'm totally outclassed by the guy. His name is Jeff Boyle and he owns a small studio in Chicago. And on the CD (called A DOG NAMED ZERO), it lists his website for his musical projects. jeff boyle.net You can hear and download a couple songs for free, and the rest of the tunes are available for purchase. And his wife is a musician/vocalist. So I was being sort of sexist, I guess, in assuming that the instruments were his. (They were, but they might not have been...) In case anyone's interested...
