SOMEBODY'S GOTTA SAY IT by Neal Boortz

I finished this book yesterday. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, knowing as I did that Boortz co-authored a book called something like THE FAIR TAX, with a US Congressman (or a Senator, I'm not sure which). A part of me likes the idea of a national sales tax over a graduated income tax, so I knew that part of his polemic would not bother me much.

What I found was someone with whom I agreed more than I expected. On many social issues, I found myself agreeing with Boortz, like homosexuality and abortion.

I did not agree with his stance on the war in Iraq, but I do recognize that there are a lot of Americans who think it was a necessary action (I'm not one of them). And there were specifics on other issues that I didn't agree with, even when I agreed with him in general (his thoughts on education, for example).

Other than that, he's pretty much a libertarian. And I find myself drawn to a lot of libertarian ideas.

I expected to get mad at a lot of what he was saying, since currently I veer toward the liberal side of the aisle. But I didn't. It was a pretty interesting and thought provoking book for one picked up off the bargain shelves at the local Borders.
