Even though I haven't been blogging, I'm still alive for the most part. I've been getting a fair amount of reading done, much of it on the Kindle. My sons got me to read Chicago author (a Northwestern grad, like Laura Lippman) Veronica Roth's DIVERGENT and INSURGENT, and I liked both quite a bit. I also plowed through Steven M. Moore's two latest books, THE GOLDEN YEARS OF VIRGINIA MORGAN and TEETER TOTTER BETWEEN LUST AND MURDER. The latter is a straight up mystery featuring Moore's detective duo, Chen and Castillblanco, set in New York City. The latter was a thriller which starts with the premise, what happens when those government employees who are privy to the secrets start getting Alzheimer's Disease and blabbing things they're not supposed to blab?

I also read a couple of books by Dan DeWitt, another indie author, ORPHEUS and ORPHEUS BORN, both interesting takes on the zombie horror novel. And I'm currently reading King's JOYLAND. Enjoying it quite a bit, although I'm not sure where he's going with the story. The set-up is something that King excels at, as he describes the characters and environment of an amusement park in one of the Carolinas through the eyes of a college student summer employee, though this viewpoint character is now in his sixties.

My other big project is getting my own stuff indie-published. I'm starting a publishing company and getting ready to release a couple of short stories, followed by a Disney "guidebook" that doesn't really try to be a guidebook for everyone, more of a template for a 1 week-to-10 day visit. I also have two short horror novels/novellas and one short mystery close to ready to publish. So that's taking up some time.

Then we vacationed a bit between the end of school and the beginning of a class/camp the kids are in and summer band camp starting. So it hasn't left much time for blogging.

But I'm still around, and I'm sure once I get things off the ground with the publishing thing, I'll post more here to let people know what's happening, should they care.

Take care!
