I just read on THE PASSIVE VOICE that Dr. Barbara Mertz, aka Barbara Michaels, aka Elizabeth Peters, has passed away at age 85.

I know her primarily through her Amelia Peabody Egyptology mysteries. I have at least one or two Barbara Michaels books in my stacks and several Vicki Bliss books, but I haven't read either that second E.Peters series or the Michaels titles.

But I will miss reading about Amelia and Emerson and Ramses and all the other memorable characters from that series.
