Report for Diana (voice mail from Saturday):

Diana is back home in Louisiana and back on duty helping with the recovery and maintaining order.

St. Tammany Parish is a mess. The west end is better off than the east end which experienced the edge of the eyewall. Hundreds have died in Slidell from flooding and other causes. There is lots of damage in Mandeville, especially along lakefront. Lower floor of the houses was inundated with water.

Things are improving. Power is being built out along the main corridors providing working traffic lights and such.
Diana hopes to have power at her place in a few days. Cell phone coverage is improving though there are significant differences based on the provider. There is bank open where you can get money. It will be open Labor Day.

One effect of the loss of power is the lack of ambient light at night. This allows many stars to be visible including the Milky Way.
