After almost a week of not being able to check my email, I finally drove up to Robert, LA and downloaded 3 gajillion messags. And, one of those messages was an email from Writers of the Future, telling me that the story I submitted last quarter is a finalist! Woot!

So, that was the good news. Otherwise it's been pretty exhausting around here, both physically and mentally. I'm on search and recovery teams, which involves a lot of walking and busting into houses and searching mud-filled places and looking for bodies. Fortunately the initial estimates of casualties look to be WAY off. It is not going to be hundreds of deaths in this area. Whew.
