Drama Mini-series 1984 If you're thinking of renting The Jewel in the Crown, set yourself down for a long haul. It's a 14-episode mini-series and episode one is two hours long. I'm not entirely certain if the remaining 13 are equally cumbersome, so if you know, go ahead and post a comment. The first episode did not leave me screaming for more (in truth, I fell asleep during the last half-hour). While I love the idea of the story's conflict, I love period pieces, and I quite enjoyed the actors, the dialog just killed any momentum whatsoever. The characters take forever to say anything meaningful, and we took nearly the whole first episode just to tell everyone's back story. (My father was a blah, who did blah, but died from blah, and my money went to blah, blah, blah, would you like a spot of tea? Oh, delighted. Thank you so very much. And did I mention blah?) On the bright side, four more movies on our Netflix queue just bumped higher on the list. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
