I think that Spiderman 2 is a great movie -- even if you have only a passing familiarity with the comic. I used to read the comic strip on and off way back when, so I don't consider myself more than passing familiar with the comic. I know the main players, and that the term "web crawler" isn't an Internet reference.

The moviemakers did an excellent job making the story accessible. The characters are very human, the director doesn't feel compelled to blow something up every other scene, and when they do an action sequence, it's a good, nail-gripping action sequence. Overall, an excellent, entertaining flick.
