Action Feature Film 2003 The cool thing about Netflix is that I'm willing to rent a movie that gets so-so reviews. LXG deserves these reviews, no doubt about it. It's too bad, too, because it had plenty of potential. Mina, the vampire, was played deliciously by Peta Wilson -- my favorite character by far. Jekyll/Hyde had an interesting struggle and Dorian Grey just had class (in a conflicted sort of way). What failed is the lack of a story. They hung their hats on "save the world" as the story, and the hat rack fell off the wall. For the most part, the characters didn't have any real stake in the plot, nor did they have much stake in each other (Mina and Dorian aside). I would have been much more forgiving of other logic flaws if I'd cared about the characters more. Fortunately, Spiderman 2 will almost certainly salvage any damage LXG may have done to the "adapt a comic book" phase Hollywood is currently indulging in.
