Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits (and I'm not talking about the Easter Bunny)

I haven't posted in awhile, so here's my attempt to get back into the swing of things. I'll just jump right in here . . .

I've worked a couple of long work weeks at the day job. Around fifty hours each week, a fourteen hour work shift, a couple of twelves, a ten here and there. You get the picture. Overtime is good and is welcome from time to time but please get me back to the regular routine where I can just work my eight hour shift, go home, and go on with my day. Working these long, unusual hours away from the usual routine just leaves me frazzled.

In the last week I was able to whip a story in shape for Kate's workshop yesterday. Captain Jack And The God-monster (the title will most likely change) is six thousand words. Kate had a lot of things to say about it. This story will be shorter when I'm done with it. Also, I was the first to arrive at the house for the workshop, so I talked to Kate for a bit. I talked about my novel and my feelings about its second draft state. She offered to read it and comment on the structure, so I need to drop my novel by there sometime this week. She seemed to understand my desire to work on the next novel before touching this one again.

My birthday was on Thursday and Ximena and I managed to go out and have some fun. That consisted of a riverside table at Mcmenamins Pub (it was a beautiful day) and then we took a walk around downtown Eugene. We ended up in Jo Fedirico's where we had coffee drinks. I had a stong spanish coffee. Ximena had one with--what was it?--bourbon, I think. We drank our coffee, listened to the life jazz playing, and colored on a white paper table clothe with the crayons the bar provided.

Now, my honey-boo's birthday is tomorrow. Happy birthday, Ximena! Enjoy your day and let's go celebrate your brilliance.
