Mood: HOT! It Burns! It Burns! Read/Post Comments (4) |
2006-07-24 6:43 PM Crazy From The Heat The temperature reached the triple digits on Saturday. Ximena and I did our best to cool off at her company picnic. Good thing those mill workers had the event at a lake. We stayed there all afternoon in the shade and we never got too hot. There were squirt guns--all the kids had them. That was no fair for the adults. There were cool animals at the party. Rhino Eguana, snakes, boa constrictors, tortoises, rabbits, tarantulas. That Eguana was huge and hot to the touch! It looked like a couple of guys got their exotic pets together and hired them out to parties. The company was called the Zany Petting Zoo. While it was neat to see the eguana and hold an African blood snake with orange eyes (his name was Frank), I felt bad for the animals. While the eguana and lizards and snakes were fine with the heat, it couldn't have been good for the ferret and rabbits. It's obvious these guys care for these animals and they keep a very watchful eye on them as the kids pet them and squeal. However, they transfer them in containers. Those containers go inside vehicles. Hot vehicles on a hot day. Maybe I worry too much. But I do hope the animals were okay. Anyhoo, after the picnic, we walked not one mall, but two, just to stay in the airconditioned air. It hasn't been cooling off at night like it usually does. It's that hot. Sunday we spent some time around the hot apartment with the only respite being a trip to the supermarket and the tango center. I think I could have used more airconditioning on Sunday. Today after work I went across the street to Barry's Espresso and wrote in airconditioned splendor and drank iced coffee. There will probably be more of that.
