2007-01-23 1:51 PM Finally, Now It Can Be Told The TOC has been posted HERE and I can finally announce that short story sale.
I sold "The Fate Of Captain Ransom" to Strange New Worlds 10 just a few days before Christmas. I was asked not to announce the sale on the Internet until the official publisher announcement. And I guess I'm still pretty excited about it. In fact, yesterday I got the contract and I just sent it back today. That feels cool because I feel like such a professional. Anyhoo, Strange New Worlds is, for those of you who don't know, is the Star Trek anthology and contest for new writers. My story didn't make the top three but I'm getting paid a very good word rate at ten cents a word. "The Fate Of Captain Ransom" is in the Voyager universe of Star Trek. If anyone is familiar with the episodes Equinox, Parts I & II, Captain Ransom can be found there. He was played by John Savage--he was in The Deer Hunter and he played the antagonist in television show Dark Angel. To my chagrin, I've only entered SNW three times in the last ten years. And now I've learned this is the last SNW anthology, so I'm glad I could sell Dean a story before he's done with editing all together. Plus this is my third professional sale. Not bad. Progress!
