I've got a doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon. For the past few days, I've been having some issues with sporadic shortness of breath and general pressure in my chest area, so I decided to go to our employee health nurse at the Hospital here to see what the deal is. She referred me to one of the physicians here at Good Samaritan for a check up, and had a few recommendations for things he'll probably be suggesting as well.

These "things" include a full-bore cholesterol test, an EKG examination and a stress test to see if there is, and I quote, "any cellular degeneration in the heart area".

Whoa.

My heart?

I need that. I'm 28 years old - it's not time for my heart to be having issues yet. Give me at least another quarter century before that sort of stuff starts happening.

Needless to say, I'm not thrilled about it. The physician was nice enough to fit me into his schedule rather quickly (normally this doctor would have been booked through early April... he's pretty popular), but that's small consolation. My wife, Jen, is meeting me at work tomorrow and accompanying me to the Doctor's office. Last night, she and I went to Ralph's and stocked up on "healthy" food, just to try and help out my cholesterol as well - it's on the high side - so it looks like we're doing stir-fry tonight. She's been great so far, but I worry about worrying her. Nothing's set in stone yet - I haven't even seen the doctor - so for all I know he may come back and tell me it's indegestion, but both of us can't help but be nervous about this.

More as it happens.
