It's kind of a surreal experience so far, what with talking to family members who have served to remind me even more that yes, I am actually someone's father. Gabriel's asleep right now, and even in sleep is trying to cram his fist into his mouth.
So far, I have to say that I love being a dad. Yes, there have been some long nights, and sleep deprivation is a constant danger, but it's worth every minute of it. Today's been pretty lazy so far. The baby woke up at around 6:00 (which is normal for him), but after being fed went back to sleep until about 10:45. And so did I. Since then he's been fed again, I read him a story (The Very Hungry Caterpillar), and watched a bit of TV, then started working on the computer when he dozed off. In other news, I've got a phone interview on Tuesday with a hospital in Wisconsin. Definitely a little nervous about it, mostly because it would be so perfect if I got it. There's a day care there that I'd be able to bring Gabe to when he's a bit older, and the Director of HR offered that if and when they do hire me, they'd refer Jen to the hospital's legal department to see if she can't get a job there, too. Wish me luck. That's about it for now. I'm going to get some lunch. Read/Post Comments (6) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
