2004-05-01 5:54 PM Subway Salad Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (3) This afternoon my husband and I went to Subway for lunch, and I decided to try their relatively new salad meal. In the past, I’ve been doomed to disappointment when the salad fixings at fast food joints (McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Jack-in-the-Box and Dairy Queen) were far from satisfactory. For the most part, the “meals” are nothing but high-priced lettuce-filler with very little else worth eating. Frankly, I could throw together a bowl of lettuce at home for a quarter of the price fast-food restaurants charge.
Subway’s salad was a bit better, but not by much. I ordered the Grilled Chicken & Baby Spinach meal, and was not too surprised to see the skimpy quantity of meat and some of the other included ingredients (garlic-toasted almonds and bacon). The salad cost $5.39, and if the price tag is not a rip-off, I don’t know what is. I live and learn – never order a “specialty” salad from an eatery of “convenience” again, no matter what the advertised images depict.
