Pets de Soeurs

A couple of days ago I made pigs-in-a-blanket using turkey hot dogs, and I ended up having a lot of dough left over. Rather than waste it, I prepared the following quick-recipe that has been handed down in my mother’s Canadian family for many years. However, my Mum forbade me to provide the translation for the recipe across the online airwaves:

Pets de Soeurs

Leftover pastry/pie shell dough

Butter

Brown sugar

If you have any leftover strips of dough from making a pie shell, combine them together and form another ball of dough. Roll out the dough on a floured surface. Spread butter over the dough, and then sprinkle brown sugar on top of that. Roll the dough as you would an "egg roll," and then slice the roll into ¼" or ½" pieces. Place on a greased cookie sheet (with space between), and bake at 350° F for ten minutes on one side. Flip the pieces over and bake another ten minutes. Baking time may vary, so keep an eye on the little rolls. They are done when all sides are a golden brown.

Sounds simple, but the little tidbits are quite good with a mug of coffee or a nice hot cup of tea. This time around, I stuck several slivered almonds into the individual pieces.
