If you are like me, distrusting the American political system for most of my life, you may have a little bit of paranoia about the election coming next week.

Sure, if the Democrats win control of one or both houses, my dark feeling will be a moot point.

But consider what will happen if the Republicans seem to win every contest and nothing changes, even though all the talking heads have told us how the American People are fed up and are anxious to demonstrate their displeasure at the polling places across America.

We know elections can be corrupted. We have the feeling that Diebold machines may be hacked to give winning results to the wrong candidates.

Is this what Karl Rove is so happy about? Does he know the fix is in?

And what will the American People do if this happens? Will there be marches in the streets or merely articles written in protest with nothing changed?

Perhaps it is a nightmare, but I can't help but think these hooligans in office would do anything to stay in power, including stealing the elections for a third time!

Please tell me I'm wrong and that it will be a fair election. Please tell me America is not attempting to export our broken Democracy. Please tell me the People truly want honest, smart politicians who will stand up for them, not for the corporations or their own self-interests.
