For those of you who don't know, White Wolf Publishing is suing the production companies responsible for Underworld. Now, I respect intellectual property, but I'm not sure how much power they have here, they're actually pushing to prevent the film from coming out.

I saw this today and was fairly amused.

The thought occurs to me though... how much of this genre does White Wolf now claim as theirs, now that they have covered many different avenues and subjects with it? And, now that their current version of the World of Darkness is ending, are we going to see things like this continue with each story that comes out in the genre?

Now, I haven't seen Underworld, so am not sure whether there are as blatant rip offs as they claim, and respect their intellectual property rights, but things like this worry me a bit, especially with subjects that I enjoy, in case I wanted to write something eventually. How about those of you in fiction-writing land?

Speaking of writing, I think I'm going to go back to my story/novel/forgotten project and see what I can do to get that puppy out!
