Enjoy the ride. Currently, I live in a small 'crossroad' town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I'm raising a wonderful son, cultivating a promissing career in Real Estate and enjoying every day! I'm involved in many community activities, charitable organizations and do LOTS of Yoga! Life is a great ride. Things change, I adapt and follow the 'road' with love and humility. 2007-12-20 7:34 PM I Got Spooned! Today, I got Spooned and Cupped, which is an Ancient Chinese Medicine Practice used to heal muscle damage. I went to see an Accupuncturist for a chronice neck/shoulder injury I've had, which has become unbearable after 8 years or so.
When I got there, he proceeded to explain how the act of scraping a ceramic, chinese soup spoon over muscles makes a picture of the injured/damaged tissue that needs to be treated. Apparently, just like a bruising occurs on the skin from bleeding, likewise internal soft tissue bleeds when injured. So, as you rub on the soft tissue externally, you squeeze the old blood out from tissue, which then rises to the surface. Only the injured areas squeeze blood to the surface skin, effectively leaving a map as well as treating those areas. (so, I have a lot of bruising on my shoulder and back right now) Afterward, he used suction cups on the injured areas to further draw the blood out. Finally, he used the accupunture needles on me for about 20 minutes after all of that. The whole treatment lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I felt pretty whoosy after that. I feel quite a bit of relief and think I am finally going to heal after years of pain. I'm going to keep up the treatment until there is no more bruising. Wish me luck!
