Enjoy the ride.

Currently, I live in a small 'crossroad' town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. I'm raising a wonderful son, cultivating a promissing career in Real Estate and enjoying every day! I'm involved in many community activities, charitable organizations and do LOTS of Yoga! Life is a great ride. Things change, I adapt and follow the 'road' with love and humility. • My Crazy Possum Adventure

So, I've had this possum move in under my house and it's been quite the adventure. Over the last week or two, I've had him wake me up at night. I kept ignoring him, hoping he'd go away. Instead he just got more comfortable, so I decided to be brave and do something about it.

I bought a trap at the local 'feed store', which is 'country' for pet store. The trap is like a rectangular wire box with a trap door that closes when the animal steps on the trigger. (easy enough) So, I placed a can of tuna just beyond the trigger and set it out near the place he comes out at night.

Unfortunately, the first thing I caught was my cat! Poor little thing. We got her out right away and loved on her until she would look at us again :-).Then, we went to bed and waited until morning. First thing, 6am, Allex wakes up, still trying to open his eyes, and says "lets go see if we caught the possum!"

And sure enough, we did! And boy was he mad! He opened his mouth in a silent hiss. We tried soothing him with our voices. It worked a little.

So then, we put him in the back of the Highlander and drove to Rotary at 7am. After Rotary, we looked for a place to release him. The best place I thought of was a dry creekbed. I know it leads to a small pond. It's sort of a public park, that hardly anyone uses. As we drove in at 8am, I didn't expect to see anyone.

Instead, we drove up to a dozen Firemen changing clothes!!! (hahaha) They hurriedly got dressed. They were just as surprised as we were! It was soooo funny. I told them what we were doing and they didn't believe me at first. Then, I showed them the Possum!

They were all young guys that found me, dressed for work and releasing a varmint they normally shoot, highly entertaining! I found them very entertaining as well! They were like my heroes that I didn't need, but was sooo glad to have. Before them, I had really been sucking up my courage to open the trap and release the little 'devil looking' critter with sharp teeth and even sharper claws. In the end I didn't have to!! Yay!

This ends my exciting Possum Adventure! I'm covering the hole he dug out under my house and I should be fine for awhile!
