I'm a web developer for NOVICA. I'm fascinated by languages, even though I only speak English and a little Spanish. I can count in Korean and have numerous language and linguistics books. I'm living within walking distance of CSUN where I share an apartment with my girlfriend and 2 cats. I'm happy. I write sporadically (I really need to finish that short story), with every intention of making a living at it at an undisclosed point in the future. I taught physics at Emperor's College Winter Term 2008. I love games and stories and music and computers and science and "and." I drink my coffee 100% black 80% of the time and 80% black 20% of the time. Also, there are other things. 7332 42 | ||

2005-01-25 12:18 PM more about the new hat I wore my new hat last night as I sat down to play go. For dinner I'd eaten pizza and read a chapter of First Kyu I logged on to kgs, pretty much the first time this year. I created a game and waited for a challenger. It was already late, and I felt I really had only one game in me, so I turned down numerous guests that could only play Free games, waiting for a ranked opponent. Eventually I settled for a free game with a player of unknown rank.
My play was very sloppy and I resigned much later than I should have. I decided to play another game before I went to sleep. I started another game and was challenged by an [18k] player. My rank on kgs is currently [18k?] although it had risen from [22k?] to [18k?] while I wasn't playing. Anyway, a solid [18k] was the strongest player I've played an even game with. This game was very exciting. I had very little hope of winning, so I decided to just avoid getting cut to pieces and put in a good show. It wasn't until the last few stones that it hit home how close the game was. I won by about 15 stones. I'm still grinning ear to ear, 12 hours later. Tonight I hope to look over the game with Joe at the go club and see what else I can learn from the game.
