okay here goes the flood of pictures. :D
on sunday, keith and I did a little trekking on our sunny island. i never thought there'd be much to see but boy was i wrong! so this was a map we got from the net and off we went! me, all set! HAHA. we started from vivo, walked out to mount faber and climbed to the top (pant!) and it was probably one of the tougher climbs that'll make you feel like oh-crap-i'm-already-tired-and-i-just-started. but really it wasn't so bad if you took your time. we're just a bunch of people who wanna beat the approximate timings people took. HAHA. our first stop was the jewel box! view from the top of mt faber :) it was pretty tourist-friendly for most of it because there were signs that were easy to spot up till this point. we walked further down till we were at the henderson waves which i thought looked like miniature pseudo sydney opera houses. hahaha :D view from there yup yup. the sweat needed to climb up. i'm not sure why i was amused by this sign. hmm then there were places that offers you a shortcut to skip a portion but we insisted on covering every bit so we climbed up the terrace garden too. which was a good call cos it was VERY pretty! :) hilltop walk! look at this! who'd have thought! singapore! view from the top! next was the forest walk. long long long walk but it was nice to be so in touch with nature. :) the complication and stages of this forest walk! a pity. the tree was pretty! the overview. LOVE this pic. a gigantic spider we saw. it spun the hugest spider web i've EVER seen. :) random bamboo that was carved by lots of passersby after that long walk, we reached the alexandra arch! then we started seeing civilisation and keith took this amazing picture of the reflection of the clouds on the buildings :D then we approached HYDERABAD ROAD. HAHA. hortpark was the bomb. the best place to satisfy any gardening needs. keith was right, it was so inspiring that we all left wanting our own garden. it freaking says FU! okay anyway it got downhill from there. not literally but well, the signs stopped being tourist-friendly. the signs were angled at the wrong road and we took the wrong path. at the top of the wrong path, this was the view. still pretty yes, still high up there yes. BUT, we spent probably 45mins walking around that area IN LOOP cos the place looks the same, there's probably only one exit (which is where we entered from) and it was gigantic. stupid canterbury road, russels road, york road. but it was quite nice observing people's private landed property. they're HUGE. they were like competing whose POOL was nicer. yes, you got that right. swimming pool. all of them had their own swimming pools and trampoline and swings made up of rope tied to a tree with a wheel. yes, THAT big. now THAT's a place with the real rich ones. they were bungalows, not terrace houses, not semi-ds. HUGE BUNGALOWS. anyway we were really relieved to get out of there. that was the top notch challenge. we really wanted to give up and flag the cabs that came into rare sight. but we persevered and finally retraced our steps and got out of that place. :D our final stop was to the canopy walk :) and we made it through and made our way back to vivo (BY BUS. LOL) and stopped by superdog to grab a bite. hahaha thought the line about ketchup was funny. :D anyway i had such a blast though our feet were dying. it was nice quality time spent with a loved one and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city! we walked almost four full hours and finished 3litres of water. oh and when i got home i found out we didn't actually complete the WHOLE thing. but what the heck. the walking at the part we got lost was more than able to make up for it cos hell, it was a LONG ASS WALK IN THERE. hahaha. many kudos to keith for making us persevere when we were lost. :D so so so fun. now that we've conquered southern ridges, many more to conquer. :D WHEE! can't imagine doing that with anyone else :D Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
