Today, canceled

I win the worst parent award. This morning I left a little Rachel standing atop a snow mound to wait for the bus that didn't appear to be coming to what looked like a no-man's land, a tundra. Was there school today? I thought there should be. I needed to go home and check. Driving down my street, I felt like I was bouncing around in a dune buggy. And hopefully I wasn't going to stick myself in the snow at the end of the driveway. The news said no school. I had rushed the kids around, rushed cereal into them, rushed tooth brushing for nothing. I called my aunt to cancel babysitting--I was also the scheduled parent helper in Lloyd's class today--and bounced back down the way to pick up Rachel. Tonight's Brownie meeting is also a no-go. My busy day has been canceled. Still, it's my last day of class and my niece's 12th birthday. Happy birthday, Evie!
