Falwell connections to TX House race

If you read this article closely you'll see the curiously convoluted phrase "In addition, Alan Askew's wife used to be Falwell's receptionist, and Rush is Neal Askew's son-in-law."

After decipherhing the relation references, we learn that Falwell was invited to this church by the the senior pastor who's the brother-in-law of the Republican running against the Democratic encumbent for the Dripping Springs district for the Texas House.

I confirmed this with the reporter (the Statesman's Religion reporter), who told me that "yes, Rev. Ryan Rush is married to Alan Askew's sister. That information was reported by a colleague who is covering the Askew race. He wrote up a couple of paragraphs for me to include in the story. And Rush also confirmed the family tie."

Falwell gets political at Austin church: Baptist televangeslist urges Christians to vote their faith on Nov. 2 (may require registration).
