Ok, I know that these events occured prior to today but since I read about 'em today I'm calling it a "Freaky Friday" Friday.

For as long as I can remember there's been a cultural meme which equates inhabitants small towns / 'rural America' with all that is Christian (and good) while equating inhabitants of cities with all that is non-Christian (evil).

It's my recollection that this meme gained currency in our political culture about 10 years ago when the Republicans began using it as a cudgel against their Democratic opponents.

While I'm sure that folks who believe this meme to be 'true' will discount the following I offer them as examples of the dangers of seeing the 'Truth' as something black & white...

Racy notes result in an arrest in Burnet

Youth minister's wife is accused on soliciting sex from a minor.

A 27-year-old Burnet woman is accused of posing as a teenage girl and having phone sex with a 15-year-old boy whom she sent dozens of letters asking him to sleep with her, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Superintendent accused of placing hidden camera in ladies' room

BRUCEVILLE-EDDY -- School Superintendent Dan Doyen was arrested this week, accused of placing a hidden video camera in a women's bathroom at the school administration office.

McLennan County sheriff's office investigators arrested the 46-year-old Doyen on Wednesday.

Investigators say he admitted that he bought a camera disguised to look like an air freshener dispenser with a school credit card and placed it in a restroom used by three administration office employees and female visitors to the building.
