A "G-Rated Journal" That Even My Mother Can Read (because she does!)

Effervescence is a state of mind. It's about choosing to bring sunshine to the day.
Every person I meet matters.

Some Return of Red-Meat-Eating

Some Return of Red-Meat-Eating - I have a houseguest right now, someone who's like my "little brother" (despite his 6'6" frame and previous competition in the sport of sumo). In exchange for the opportunity to crash at my place and borrow my car, he's been cooking for me. He makes dinner, he bakes bread, he spoils me rotten. I joke that "I buy groceries, and suddenly FOOD appears!"

The biggest treat for this arrangement: I've had a chance to eat "red meat" lately. I seem to have developed an almost-allergy level of intolerance for beef. When I cut beef out of my diet completely, nearly all my stomach irritation went away completely and probably 95% of my migraines. Migraines are actually *RARE* now, which is a major relief from the years when I suffered between 4-7 migraines per month, minimum. And although beef treats me poorly, I seem to have no problem with bison, and I simply love lamb. I just never get around to buying it for cooking at home.

At the Farmer's Market last week we bought two bison steaks, and at Trader Joe's this week we bought a couple of lamb steaks. (Steaks? Flanks? Whatever they were called, they weren't "lamp chops" because I'm not a fan of holding bones to try and wrestle my food away from a skeleton.)

Wow. I didn't realize I missed eating red meat until the past two weeks, getting to finally eat some again.

I'm still likely to live on a heavily "near-vegetarian" diet, with semi-regular portions of fish, chicken, and turkey. But I'm quite pleased to eat something that resembles a "steak," especially having not eaten any beef in almost 8-9 years now. Lamb and bison are going to make return-visits to my dinner table again!

Today's Blessing That I'm Thankful For: Hot coffee, hot food, and the promise of warm slippers when I get home!
