February is a month of birthdays, anniversaries, and love. What could possibly be more festive?

And this month we go to Rome, Italy, for eight days. I am entranced and enchanted.

On the home front, we've got two lemon trees planted (one transplanted, a Meyer Lemon that's been with us for about 8 years and a new, Improved Meyer Lemon) both in containers. We also have two avocados - one dwarf and one Mexicola, which produces prodigiously and is extremely hardy. Always important in windy Simi.

The other citrus (an orange and a Bearss Lime) have been fertilized along with the new ones and the avocados. We're hankering now for a tangerine and a grapefruit - but the refrain goes, 'where would we put them?' - so we don't buy. Yet.

Tonight hubby said that buying and planting trees is a sign that happiness reigns, there is a future, that we'll be here in five years to pick the fruit. I'm hoping it only takes five years...

but yeah, I'm happy.
