I just sat down and wrote. Got five pages written this afternoon. Feel pretty good about that, as I didn't plan on what I was going to write. Novel-wise, I'm doing the one I had outlined, but I'm letting the outline be loose and the writing flow. Kind of interesting. I hate filler scenes, they turn into bathroom novels - you know, like letters home from camp - 'and then we ate lunch, and then I went to the bathroom, and then we swam, and then...' the kind you write at eight or nine years old. Hate writing those scenes, hate writing scenes I think I 'should' write - so I'm trying to apply what I learned in the last novel more stringently to this one, which is to kinda ignore the rules.

We'll see how that goes. But hey, I got five pages written. 1,250 words. Better than a kick in the head any day.

On another note, I got caught up in the series finale of 'Dawson's Creek'. I'd just watched the show in bits when it was on, and seeing the finale I think made it better than watching it all the way through. So it was a fun, weepy morning which I immediately cured by watching 'West Wing' - which Sarah in Texas got me hooked on. What a good show. I think I need to watch it from the beginning - maybe I'll save my pennies to buy the DVDs.

Now it's time to make dinner and have some family fun. If only someone else was cooking tonight...
