2004-06-02 7:51 PM Books Two days in a row exercising for me! Woo! Amazing what buying a $60 pair of jeans will do for the will to get slimmer, ain't it?
Anyway. After my visit with Jenn this morning (man, but it's been too long since I've seen her), I headed out to have lunch with the hubby. We meet at a bookstore, and I always get there early. Well. Today a friend of mine emailed that she picked up this writing book - Writing a Romance Novel for Dummies - written by Leslie Wainger, who's only one of the senior editors at Harl/Sil. So I figured I'd better pick it up, too. And while I was perusing the writing shelf at the bookstore, the Dummies book under my arm, I found a book that will save me time and again. It's called WRITING PAST DARK, written by Bonnie Friedman. The subtitle is - Envy, Fear, Distractions, and other Dilemmas in the Writer's Life. It just sort of puts it all out there, why sometimes it's impossible to write, and what we can do to get through the dark times. For me, it's going to be picking up this book. The Dummies book I will look at when I'm not under so much self-imposed pressure. And in the L.A. Times today, there was a book profiled in Steve Lopez' column called RAIN OF GOLD by Victor Villasenor. Apparently it's the key to reading for many Latino high school students in this area, and it sounds fabulous so that's an add to my TBR pile. Okay. Time to check on dinner, and do some salsa moves - Pink Martini is on the stereo, and the rhythm is intoxicating. 'scuse me... Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
