This is the first full weekend I've had off in - wow, I can't remember. Anyway, it is. So, since my office looks like many of those on Clean Sweep (that TV show where people air their messy habits), I decided today was a perfect day to start. So I sat by the washer and reached for the first pile of stuff, hoping to toss most of it.

Hubby had dumped some of my stuff on my floor (it was from his file cabinet) and I've been stepping over it for months, knowing it would take hours to go through. I was right, it has, and I'm not done yet.

I've got Life Piles. Piles of paper that reveal a microcosm, a slice of time in your life - letters (yes, people really did used to write letters), birthday cards from long forgotten colleagues, photographs. Even checkstubs from some of my first jobs. A 5 month schedule of dates and ballets to perform for the ballet company that hired me at 18 - but couldn't make it's third payroll. Stuff from when life was up in the air, and exciting, and possibilities were around every corner.

I will end up saving 90% of this stuff because it's a part of my life history. I'm so glad I got to it today - lately the past has been infiltrating my present, which is stirring me up and will hopefully charge my future with change.
