A published author once took me to task on an email loop for advising another writer to skip to a different project if her current one was giving her fits.

He was very unhappy with me, and basically told me that it was the discipline of finishing what you started that makes a writer.

Well, yes...but who says you have to do it all in one sweeping span of time, without working on other things, too?

Currently I am writing two new YA novels, a play about a deeply disturbed young woman, and polishing up my paranormal novel. In the past two days, I've written new words on the three new projects, and I must say this is deeply satisfying.

The three projects are so different, that it allows me to slip into three different worlds and play. Writing in the other two allow me a freedom of air in the third, if that makes any sense. And my writing is getting stronger, with more a sense of where it's going than before; and that is all kinds of good.

I may never be as well known as that published author that smacked me down, but I'll bet you I'm a happier wordsmith.
