Went to San Diego yesterday morning to take my dad to lunch for his 82nd birthday. Also dropped by the Taylor Guitar showroom, and persuaded hubby to purchase the guitar he'd had his eye on - and lucky for us it was almost 1/2 off! We saved about $900 off list price due to the fact that the guitar had gone out as a review guitar - other hands had it for 4 months. So it's one of the best of the best! He is STOKED, which is perfect right now.

We spent the night at the Pelican Cove Inn Bed and Breakfast in Carlsbad. Oh my - it was wonderful! Because there was almost no one else there, we got a free upgrade to a HUGE room (the Pacific Room) that had a spa tub in it. Plus a feather bed. Plus a fireplace! It was like swimming in luxury!

We ate dinner at Vigilucci's Cucina, great food and an even better bottle of wine. Then we took a walk along the boardwalk and were treated to the sight of a beautiful beach that seemed to stretch for miles.

This morning, a fabulous breakfast, some editing on my part while hubby played guitar, and then we went antiquing - didn't buy anything though. Was too off-balance to safely navigate some of those smaller areas filled with breakables, which took some of the joy off the trip.

Another walk along the beach, and then we were ready to head for home. Friends are coming for dinner tonight to celebrate the book deal with me, so there's much work to do.

Have gotten 1/5th of the way through my second edit pass, so I'm doing well. Hopefully I'll get it done by tomorrow afternoon.

It's been a great weekend so far - and it looks like it will continue to be so!
