Mood: frustrated Read/Post Comments (1) |
2009-06-30 7:30 AM Tuesday? What is the good of having an intern report for work if the first week she is at work the first day she can't do anything because her computer access hasn't been approved-3 weeks knowledge she was returning; the second day she is taking some kind of training; and the third day she is on leave; the fifth day is a holiday? She is suppose to be able to cover for the secretary that sits in our division's office-mainly to answer the phone. Yesterday my manager insisted I sit in here-so my work couldn't get done. Today and tomorrow I don't have a choice, although tomorrow I will be splitting the coverage with another secretary. It is frustrating. Enough of whining about this, I promise.
Last night I finised reading another juvenile ARC book. Only 1 spelling error. I think that the story is a little bit above my granddaughter (age 9). It is a story taking place at the same time as the Illiad and Oddessy(sp?). But I think the supject matter is too deep-I will send the book for her mother to preview before Lauren reads it. Just to make sure so if questions arise DD is is ready. The book mentions conquering soldiers and rape -that is something that mothers need advance warning about. Otherwise, I found the book an interesting counter point to what I learned when studying Greek myths/legends and the Trojan horse. Not much crocheting got done, but a few rows in the chenille yarn. I have started a different pattern at work. This pattern makes a narrower strip with blocks of variegated yarn alternated with matching solid yarn. The blocks are made as a solid strip. The pattern will be good reading interpreting practice for the group I lead. I cannot remember the name of the strip, but it is on how.com. I can see this pattern being used for an afghan with the strips alternated to look like blocks. Have to think about that one. SO and I had a minor disagreement last night, actually he had the problem. Since not much interesting on TV, we agreed to watch Matrix (for the fourth time or so). I couldn't get into watching it so I started reading. He got upset that he "put the movie in for us to watch and I was reading". That meant I didn't want to be with him. HUH? He carried it over to bed time, was a grouch saying good night-forget any cuddling like usual, then this morning verything was ok. This wasn't the first time he acted like this when I read while tv or movie on, and sometimes it is because I am crocheting. I do have a problem just sitting watching tv unless it is a new movie or series, or it is something I watch to see what I missed previous times-Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter movies are examples. Its not like we don't talk during the day and when we get home. I try not to read, but if I am really upset about something at work (like I described above) reading soothes me and calms me down. If I try to talk to him about it, I can only talk about it one time then he tells me to stop repeating it. I guess that is why I am here, I can repeat it as often as I need to and if no one reads it, that is ok, It is out of my system. (Oh, he can repeat his work stories.) Sorry about all the paranthesis. I really wish he could get into another hobby-model railroading is very hard in an efficiency apartment-especially with my books and crochet and craft stuff around. Oh well, time to get some real work done. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
