2010-02-19 10:36 AM Friday Did you see it? Did you watch it- I am talking about the Men's figure skating last night. US won the Gold. Don't ask me the name-I cannot remember, except I remember rooting for him in the short program, and the long. I did not want the Russian to win the Gold-he got Silver-just being able to jump the quad does not mean you can skate well. There was no style to the Russians program, no real skill, musicality, no artistry, no flow. Now Weir's program had that, and he was seriously underscored. Don't know what happened there-but I suspect that his program wasn't challenging enough. Oh, I know he is a controversial figure, but his program was beautiful to watch. I am not a skate geek-I don't know the facts/figures names etc. I love the artistry of it all. I felt for some of the younger guys-I feel for them when they fall, when they can really skate and you can see their edges turn and it just doesn't work for them-yet. But their potential is there. And then you see the duds-they can do the tricks, but there is no feeling from them-that is what I got from the Russian-perfect tricks but no feeling. Ok, enough rant. The only other problem is that the skating is ALWAYS on late at night!!!!! They play the taped skiing (bad fall for the lady). They show the snowboarding- Ok to watch, But why is it that skating is always late???
On other front, We get the new furniture a week from Tormorrow!!! HurraH!! So this weekend will be move furniture around and clean and reorganize stuff time. Still looking for rug-hubby wants to cover almost all of the hardwood floor, I really don't want to. I would like to cover where feet go under couch and coffee table and put one under computer desk. I think different ones would work, he wants matching ones. We are still working that out. I want 2 separate rooms, he wants it more 1 room look. We'll see what happens. Haven't been crocheting that much. Didn't even go to crochet meeting-too much snow to get around, though it is starting to melt away, and the city has found places to put it all. Finally got the two baby blankets mailed out. I need to finish the shawl for the woman at church (also part of crochet group-who needs prayers) and the charity project-2 for February and 2 for March (we are almost there) that I haven't done. Then need to organize my yarns in the apartment; and finish daughters afghan. The garden room is becoming more & more my crochet room. Hubby can see me sitting an planning and crocheting in there. The light is fantastic. We will grow some plants and both sit there sometimes, but it provides great open storage that will let me display yarn for easy access. Can't wait to figure how I am going to set things up. Well, almost time for lunch, stomach is growling, which is good sign. Will be busy this afternoon. I will be reviewing my goals. I do need to work on them. Do you know when you think you want something, but when it comes to doing something about it, taking the steps just doesn't seem to happen. The idea seems great-on paper and talking about it, but the follow through is not going well-and then again, being out of work for a week really put a kabosh on a lot of things.
