2011-09-14 6:43 AM ALL SHOOK UP I had a very interesting day yesterday. I am in a 3 day 'continuing professional education' session. All the secretaries and program management assistants in my area are. The powers that be brought in an outside speaker on Leadership. His first name is Eric. I don't have my paperwork here so I don't know his last name. He teaches on Servant Leadership(not the original author) but actually teaches self leadership. OH WOW!!!!
It was a real eye opener!! And the difference between authority and leadership became crystal clear!! Wow!! Eric normally teaches at ONLY the executive level at our agency, but management fought to get funds to have him for us. Glad they did. There is still a lot to process from his course. And I will be searching out a couple of his books. He also has a website. Once I get his name and info and will be posting it in comments. Definate room for growth! One of the main points came from teaching and learning. As a youngster-we are barrels to be filled with learning. When we start working, we are enthused and our barrels slosh around, our skills work. But over time, like good cider, we settle down. And we just get by. And the real good stuff settles to the bottom. So yesterdays course was to 'JUST GET SHOOK!' And I think it will!
