Dh and I took a 'Fall Foliage' cruise up (or is it down?)the Potomic River yesterday. The weather was beautiful. The river calm, the boat nice, the color-missing. Most of the trees have not changed color yet. We saw occaisional reds or orange colors, but not the full color change. Yeesh. I had more fun watching the boats and birds!! And enjoying a couple that we met in line to board. There was a 3rd person C, in their party-neither DH nor I cared too much for her. However, R (wife)and A (husband) were very nice. R is trying to break into photography-it is a very serious hobby for her, and she crochets too. A is still a little of a mystery. I don't know what he does now, but he was a restaurantor. R didn't sit down that much on the boat, but Dh & I did talk to A a bit. DH was his normal self, I tried to draw A out, found out he's a Vietnam vet, this is his 2nd marriage, he's not as social as his wife, is older, and don't think he cared for DH too much. We left the boat aquantances.

DH and I were walking back toward the bus stop but we both had to go to the restroom, and the port a potty didn't look to steady, good enough reason to go out to eat.

We headed to the seafood area. Most of the restaurants were open eating type-no rest rooms, except for two. As we were walking to the two, who should show up but the same party! We ended sitting at the same table. R & I ended up sharing a bottle of wine, good one at that, and had a blast. Never mind the husbands. The couple is from Columbia Md, which isn't really too far from DC. Dh started chilling out and being more social, less show offy, A started being more open and things flowed. We'll see what comes of it. Considering it was the other couples idea to sit together, I find it very promising for a start. Oh, and politics were briefly hit-they are similar mindset. No real detail hit..but just enough to be comfortable. The most amazing thing-she's from Massachusettes, he's from Rhode Island!! Same mix as Dh and me!
