Ok, did I really just read that?

I need to vent this and I cannot post this where I really want to at the request of the journalist. Skip reading it if you want.

Kids break things..usually at the worse times for their parents. Usually when money has been 'spoken' for. It is always a pain. And as a parent you get disappointed. But... just because "they are not needed for reading" and "tomorrow is the last day of school" does not mean that the glasses are not needed for quality of life. Seeing long distance means getting to see the dolphins as clearly as you do! Seeing long distance means seeing ALL the attractions from dock and boat the same way you do. Seeing long distance means seeing the vistas on the drive the same way you do. All of them, in the detail that makes such a trip worth while. And she is old enough to benifit from it all.

In all the years you lived apart, you always said you had NO family you wanted to visit. Now you pout about a cousin, because of an accident. And you are willing to let a child go without glasses so that you get your visit in.(hopefully the warranty stands.) Something is off balance here. Glasses are not just for reading, but for general seeing. As one who needed one 'just for long distance' since the 4'th grade. I missed many vistas on those early trips with my folks.

Ok, you all can breath now. Rant is over. I know glasses are expensive, I wear them too. But so is a childs missing out and feeling punished because of it.
