I found him. I found my teacher! I found the poet who taught me how to write. Now I have to seriously get my rear in gear and put my best effort into every single thing I write.

Paul Kane was my teacher at Briarcliff college. I emailed him. I want him to have a copy of my book from Wildside when it comes out so he can see that I'm actually doing it at last, that I pulled my shit back together.

He's a seriously brilliant man. He was awarded a guggenheim in 1998. I studied under him in 1976-77 in a one on one tutorial when he was the poet in residence and also took a poetry course with him at the same time where he taught that you had to learn to work within all the forms before you learned how to break the forms. Because if you were going to break the rules you should know why you were breaking them. Awesome man. Awesome mind. He emailed back. I am so incredibly overjoyed. I am ecstatic.
