It is my opinion that so far I have come across three stories that could have been rescued and made into good pieces if a PROFESSIONAL editor had been involved with this anthology. Dodge, Baxter, and Stemper's stories.

Professional editors are people who have spent years learning their craft, they not only buy the books and stories that get published in professional zines and by professional companies, they frequently go line by line over a manuscript and find the various problems with it that need to be gotten past. Generally there is also a copy editor or development editor involved in addition to the buying editor.

I have been a professional editor and I continue to work as a copy editor. The benefit of having a good editor is beyond measure. And the sad debris left by a poor one can sometimes never be recovered from.
