Ack. A ton of errands to run today (eight different places). I’m going to do them first, get them over with. I have to write 1591 words today to catch up to the Dare; so a minimum of 1K so I don’t slip behind, but more would be better. I also want to crit a story of Teresa’s, answer at least two e-mails in the growing Drafts folder, and, of course, exercise. It’s now much later. Errands took about four hours, and I accomplished the following: * picked up car part * returned rented sanders * turned in books at used bookstore and bought two books (fantasy romances)—came out even costwise! * returned two books at B&N and bought several (Kris Rusch’s new one, The Disappeared; Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Coraline; and a Nora Roberts two-novels-in-one with a time-travel plot. Received 99¢ in change. * mailed package * bought food I did not, however… * find legal-sized purple file folders. Now, why would Staples sell boxes of mixed colours that include purple, and single boxes of all those colours _except_ purple? Also checked Home Depot without success. Next step is to check online. * buy coronet boxes at Michaels. Because Michaels just had a 50% off sale that I didn’t know about, and the papier mâché box section was completely gutted. I did, however, discover that their baskets were still 50% off, and bought two laundry basket and one smaller one * buy 3¢ stamps. Mailboxes Etc. doesn’t sell them, so I’ll have to brave a PO. To add insult to injury, halfway through my errand-running, I scuffed my foot and the bottom front of my shoe peeled back. It just needs to be glued…now I _really_ have to find a cobbler: I have another pair of shoes that need repair, but this new one is on one of my favourite pair of shoes. I call ‘em my New Age Flake shoes. They’re purple with airbrushed stars and crescent moons, slightly more than sandals, and I got them in Glastonbury. I love them. I was home for only a little while before Ken called. He’d had his root canal appointment (#3) at noon today. He was feeling ooky and was coming home. I’ve been lounging in the living room with him. He’s swollen and uncomfortable, but has good pain meds. They essentially had to peel back his gum and attack the problem from the side. (I know I didn’t warn ya’ll before I wrote that. If he has to suffer, ya’ll have to suffer. Just be glad I’m not giving ya’ll details about my yeast infection.) It’s hard to concentrate in here when I can hear the TV _and_ I want to be in the living room with Ken. Argh. He leaves tomorrow evening for two days in Portland (home Friday evening); then he leaves again next Tuesday and won’t be back until Friday. Sucks. Well, I got on a roll and hit more than 1K, but then I chose to spend the rest of the evening with my love. So there. I’m only 576 short on the Word Count Dare right now, and I can make that up this week. And surpass it… Plus, Chapter 8 will be a little short because I don’t have any of my guidebooks to St Andrews, and there are lots of “[describe]” notes to add later.
