Musings About Writing and Stories About Life

She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Bah humbug. Ken just left for the airport. He stayed home today, so I spent the day with him, except when I went to get my hair done, and I noodled around on the web while he read. He’s only going to be gone until Friday, which isn’t bad at all, but still. If I didn’t get a little sad when he left, I suppose something would be wrong.

“Buffy”’s on tonight, and “Mythquest”, a kids’ show that my friend Gillian worked on. I’ll be taping the latter so Ken and I can watch it together.

I also need to write, exercise, answer some e-mail, and crit Teresa’s story. Do I want to do any of this right now? Of course not. I want to wallow in misery and lie on the sofa and read. Or, oddly, sew.

I’m being very silly in AETW. Tamsin and Corwin are at St Andrews Castle while “the re-enactors” are there. I’m basically plopping them in the middle of the SCA’s Beltaine Faire, although the time is just after midsummer. And I’ve put myself in it: “a busty woman with dark red hair, wearing a purple Irish dress with a saffron-yellow leine beneath”. Hee hee hee. I might be overdoing it, but right now, I’m having a lot of fun—and I need to be having fun with it.

Watched some TV and did some handwork—couching cord around the charges on my heraldic cotehardie.

Wooh! I was struggling with each word as I started the second stint of writing tonight. But finally it took off, and I was truly startled to see I’d gone over my goal. I’m now back on track with the Dare—but I probaby won’t write on Saturday because we’ll be at an SCA event, so I had best work ahead tomorrow and Friday.

And on that note, I’m going to bed.
