2002-12-29 5:18 PM Styxday! Renfaire: 410
Happy Styx Day! Actually, to be honest, I’m not yet feeling manic. I think it’s because I resigned myself to the fact that I couldn’t go to the four concerts earlier this month, so now this one seems…unbelievable. I haven’t quite grasped the fact that yes, this one is going to happen. (Well, they all happened. This one I’m actually going to _go_ to!) We scoped out our seats while we were at the Paula show. Not too shabby. 5th row ain’t the front row, but it’ll do just nicely, thankyouverymuch. Yesterday was good. I copy edited a total of six articles (it’s a long journal, but the articles are fairly short) and wrote more than 500 words. Today’s plan is more writing and copy editing, taking the holiday newsletter to the copy shop, and primping for the concert. (That says “pRimping”, Sarah!) Work continues apace on the outbuilding roof. Yesterday Ken and Marty cut all the beams, and when it got dark, spent several hours picking up the rest of the materials. They finished just before it started to rain—like, a minute before. Talk about timing. Today I believe they and Dennis are going to start ripping off the old roof. Ken wanted to get this done in two days, but I suspect it’s going to bleed over into tomorrow. But, we’ll see. This isn’t exciting home renovation, but it’s necessary, and it’ll be good to get it done. Later, Ken wants to move the solar panels (which heat the pool) over to the outbuilding roof, so there aren’t pipes going across the backyard (and leaking into the rosebed, causing waist-high grass to spring up overnight after we’ve torn it all out). I’ve set aside BH temporarily to write a short erotica piece for an antho. The deadline is in two days so I’m either going to write it or not. It took me forever to come up with an idea, and then I couldn’t get the voice right in my head. Once I got the first line and started, the voice happened. I’m having fun with it.
