She's like the girl in the movie when the Spitfire falls
Like the girl in the picture that he couldn't afford
She's like the girl with the smile in the hospital ward
Like the girl in the novel in the wind on the moors

Cats update

In the Charlie Update, she came out from under our bed Saturday night and actually slept with us. Yesterday we closed the door between the living room and hallway (leaving Eostre and Grimoire in the living room area) and opened the bedroom door, so Charlie had more area to explore. She did explore, but preferred the bedroom. Last night, she slept with us again, and also finally ate something.

This morning, we opened the hallway door because Grimoire was clawing at it and Charlie was on the other side looking interested, and we thought it was time.

Grimoire trotted into the hallway and was completely confused (is anybody surprised by this). Eostre dropped to a crouch. And then all sorts of mayhem broke out. Eostre flew in and attacked Charlie in a fight that led over my feet (I have a long scratch one ankle) and into the master bathroom, where Ken broke it up (sustaining a series of scratches on one arm). Eostre has since seemingly forgotten (or perhaps she thinks she ousted the intruder and her work is done), and Charlie has been back under the bed, although I think she’s been creeping towards the edge.

I once read a way to deal with this, wherein you put the cats in their carriers at either end of the hallway for an hour or so, and every day you move the carriers closer, until they deal with the fact that there’s somebody new, and this is what the new cat smells like, etc. So we’ll try that, starting maybe later today or tomorrow.

Enough with the cat updates! I hear most of you cry. Alrighty, then.
