2003-07-05 10:31 PM Dancin' on my own ground again ALNM: 1001
Sorry for the downer of an entry yesterday. I’m starting to re-think what this journal is all about. It was originally supposed to focus on my writing, as a public way of shaming myself if I wasn’t producing. But it also became a way of letting friends know what was up in my life (seeing as we have friends all over the world now). I think that’s okay. But when I ramble about a headache…who cares? I have sympathy pains just reading about it. So. Onwards. I hope everybody had a smashing 4th of July. We mostly ignored it as a holiday. Our street didn’t have a block party like last year. Perhaps in part because the cops kept coming because of all the illegal fireworks being set off. Personally, I’m a big July 4th Grinch right now, and I’m glad it’s over, because they’ve been setting off fireworks for two weeks now, and I don’t like jumping every half hour in the evening because of the gunshot-sounding noises. Anyway, we did see some of the fireworks from Huntington Beach’s display, over the outbuilding roof, but that was about it. We ended the evening with a quick swim, a soak in the hot tub, and some silly sitcoms. Another productive day. Finished Chapter 8, yay, and the first part of indexing of the Sage journal I’m working on. Ken got lots of work done on the library. We watched “Election”, which wasn’t as funny as I expected (perhaps I’m not political enough). I started warping the inkle loom. Stuff like that. Tomorrow, I expect, will be much of the same. I’ve got some short stories to work on, and I’ll finish the journal, and Ken may finish the library closet, and we may sneak out to the movies, because we want to see “Charlie’s Angels 2” (hot babes and lots of action—what more can we ask for?).
